JNC recommends candidates for Superior Courts of the Alapaha, Cherokee, and Rockdale Judicial Circuits
The Judicial Nominating Commission has submitted recommendations to fill vacancies within the Superior Courts of the Alapaha, Cherokee and Rockdale Judicial Circuits. The vacancy in the Alapaha Judicial Circuit was created by the retirement of the Honorable Howard McLain. The vacancy in the Cherokee Judicial Circuit was created by the retirement of the Honorable David K. Smith, and the vacancy in the Rockdale Judicial Circuit was created by the retirement of the Honorable David B. Irwin.
Governor Kemp will fill the vacancies from among the lists. The Governor’s Office will contact candidates to schedule interviews.
The following names were submitted to Governor Kemp:
Alapaha Judicial Circuit
- Larry Michael “Mickey” Johnson – Judge, Juvenile Court, Alapaha Circuit; sole proprietor, Law Office of Mickey Johnson
- Richard L. “Dick” Perryman III – District Attorney, Alapaha Judicial Circuit
Cherokee Judicial Circuit
- Rosemary M. Greene – District Attorney, Cherokee Judicial Circuit
- Christopher G. Paul – Chief Circuit Public Defender, Cherokee Judicial Circuit
- Jesse L. Vaughn – managing partner, Vaughn & Clements, P.C.
Rockdale Judicial Circuit
- Nancy N. Bills – Judge, State Court of Rockdale County
- Clarence Cuthpert, Jr. – Judge, Probate Court of Rockdale County
- Richard R. Read – former District Attorney, Rockdale Judicial Circuit
